    Academy Program

Each student in the Fine Arts Academy participate in 5 main disciplines: Dance, Art, Band, Choral/Singing, and Drama. The Fine Arts students also get 2 periods of P.E. each week. Students have the option of dropping one of the five areas to accomodate practice time (e.g. have a piano lesson, etc). The latter is only permitted if the student is registered in a formal program and is attending lessons on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Students who select to take four out of five classes will have three undesignated periods in which to practice or have an instructor come on campus to give a lesson.

Students who are seriously involved in Fine Arts lessons outside of the school day (with a private instructor) are afforded extra flexibility when it comes to timetable programming. Students may elect to drop one of their Fine Arts classes, and use these "free" periods to take a lesson at school, with your private instructor, leave the school to take a lesson, or practice material given to them by their private instructor. Please remember that practice space is limited at St. Mary's School because of growing enrollment and thus will be allocated on a first come first served basis (starting the last week of August).

It is very important for everyone to understand that these free periods are only available to students who are serious about their lessons outside of school. In order to access this time, students must be taking private lessons.
